Label Design Case Study

This is a project to create a label design for my graphic design 2 class. I did a prototype of a PS5 game.

For my PS5 game case design, I chose a cozy theme, aiming to create a concept that would evoke warmth and relaxation. The idea for Lazy Star emerged as I brainstormed elements commonly associated with cozy games. This provided a strong foundation for my design, as it was both simple and visually appealing while maintaining a compelling presence. During the prototyping phase, I shared my design on Instagram (@Emoot_Aj) and received enthusiastic feedback from viewers who wished the game was real. This response validated the effectiveness of my concept and reinforced the idea that my design resonated with its intended audience. Through this project, I gained valuable insight into maintaining consistency across all four label designs. Ensuring a cohesive visual identity was a key takeaway, further refining my approach to design execution.

These are the initial iterations of my designs. During the critique session, I received feedback emphasizing the importance of maintaining consistency in text, planetary elements, and cloud designs. This critique was invaluable, as it provided me with a clearer understanding of the standards necessary to ensure visual cohesion and appeal for this type of product. The feedback helped refine my approach, allowing me to create a more polished and engaging final design.

This is the second iteration of my label designs, incorporating refinements based on the feedback from the critique session. I focused on ensuring greater consistency across all elements, paying close attention to text alignment, planetary details, and cloud placement. By applying this feedback, I was able to create a more cohesive visual identity while maintaining the charming, cute aesthetic that defines the design.

Through this process, I learned the importance of balancing creativity with structure, ensuring that each label felt unified while still being visually engaging. This round of revisions brought me closer to a polished final product, reinforcing the significance of iterative design and thoughtful adjustments based on constructive critique.

The last row is the final edition of the covers! I think these work really well! I worked with making sure the name 'Lazy Star' was consistent, and to make sure the planets were places above the clouds. I liked them behind the clouds, but I just wanted to make this simple.
